Art Franchises And The Art of Learning
Although Rivky’s Art Workshop is not an art franchise, many people who think they’re interested in an art franchise drop by to learn more about us.
There are many things that make Rivky’s Art Workshop different from art franchises. Two primary differences are the support we provide our participants and the emphasis we place on the student. You see, we truly value every aspect and benefit of the learning process.
Art is becoming more aware of yourself. It is not just becoming more aware of all the things around you. It is stepping inside yourself, pulling out things you never knew existed. It is understanding yourself better and learning why you think certain ways. Art stops to reflect. It makes you look at yourself from different angles. Picking up a brush and stroking away on a blank canvas is not all there is to art. It is in that very process that you begin to understand what is going on inside your mind. If you don’t understand that, pick up a brush and begin.
It’s the process of looking into your artwork. You start to wonder what meaning your work has to you. You begin to question your reasoning. You begin to change your mind. It’s not that you were brought into this world already knowing what way to think. That’s a lifelong process and art helps you make it. It questions you every step of the way. When you are at this level of your artistic ability, you look back on the younger less knowing you and wonder how you ever got along.
Art is a portrait of a portrait of yourself. It is a view of yourself that not many people feel willing to reveal. But, the artist is an open book. After all the thoughts the artist has gone through, the greatest of these is thinking about how one thinks and why one thinks. Exploring all the channels and finding all the hidden pieces, the artist begins to reconsider many of the things once thought. The world is different. Life is different. Everything is more alive.
Now you’re taking quantum leaps every time you observe something about the world around you. And you are appreciating art on many levels. The amateur is a vessel that will one day set sail. The masters are the greats by which you get your influence and motivation. It’s all working together in your mind. It’s all starting to make sense.
You can learn from the masters every bit as much as you can learn from the beginners making their mistakes and getting frustrated. You are a student still. And you’ve just realized it. Art will never let you go. It keeps pushing. Now, you are a student of your own art. What can you learn from yourself? What can you learn from your own artwork? Everything that life fails to teach can be found in your reflections of what art means to you. Start looking for yourself in your art. You’ll find what you’ve been looking for all along.
